Having seen the first 2 lines as (presumably) a traditional gnomic verse, I modified them slightly [well, substituted the word "hug" for a repetitive "Count"], and then appended the concluding 2 lines, thus transforming couplet into quatrain. (Claim of authorship comes with the above disclaimer.)
